Lois, it's no mystery. The millenia-old ministry of Christianity has always faced corruption from people who wanted to be Christian pimps, Christian prostitutes, Christian adulterers, Wotanite Christians, Christian polygamists, Christian klansmen, Christian Communists, Christian atheists (the "nontheistic Christians), "Christian and married to my stepmother," Christian slaveowners, etc.

A notable example is the Buddhist apostle who wrote in the Herald, "I found out I could be RLDS and Buddhist."

When there is a big AND attached, such as Christian AND Buddhist, then there is no Christianity, but a lot of Buddhism.

You remember the Screwtape Letters. The Devil told his nephew that silly Christians could be led away to Hell just by adding something onto Christianity, such as "Christianity and Economic Justice," "Christianity and Gay Rights," "Christianity and Cheap Slave Labor," "Christianity and Social Welfare, "Christianity and Free Love," etc. By adding on a popular, attention-grabbing, but completely fallible human philosophy or program, the Gospel could be subverted, and its adherents perverted.

George
