Lois, I just posted that to show that John, at least, insists on maintaining a very narrow definition of theological reality, and will use it to insist he is right and everybody else is wrong. Sounds just like those nasty fundamentalists, doesn't it?

I don't think many people have a problem with whether or not an RLDS has to be persecuted completely out of RLDSism to become a Restorationist. However, the matter of whether a "gay Christian" is an oxymoron is pretty much a slam-dunk. There are a lot of homosexuals who have to go and confess their sins to the priest every Sunday morning, (and Monday too!) but when the sinner starts telling the priest that the priest needs to repent of the sin of teaching the Bible, the homosexual is no longer a Christian. When that happens, he's transformed into a Communitarian in embryo.

When an RLDS tells a Communitarian that there is no longer an RLDS prophet in the office of president, the RLDS is agreeing with most of Western civilization, which never believed there ever was an RLDS prophet. The flip side, however, is that the Christian-turned-"gay Communitarian" doesn't have the majority of believers to agree with him. That's the irony. Apparently, in John's eyes, an RLDS becomes a Restorationist by rejecting the Communitarian church as abnormal. The Communitarian rejects the Restorationist because the Restorationist refuses to be abnormal.

We're back to Isaiah 5:20-23 again, but the CofC says, "get over it."

George
