Lois, why do you think that the Communitarians are so aggressive in silencing priests? They finally got tired of waiting for the RLDS priests to die so that they could get their agenda moving.

The problem with a church that is run by appointment only, is if a subversive plays the game and gets appointed to a position, he can appoint others under him like himself, and they can work their way up and take over the whole organization.

That's why the Texas constitution requires virtually all state officials to be elected, rather than appointed by the governor. There is such a thing as too much power, given the fact that human beings are imperfect and tend to abuse that power for their own ends.

You notice that in California, where there was a referendum to amend the state constitution to say what everyone except the criminally insane already knew what it meant, the population voted it down. That's why the subversives work in the courts and in appointed executive positions.

As the Book of Mormon Mosiah 13:35-38 says, Let the people vote on it, because they usually choose the right -- and if they ever refuse to choose the right, then it's all over with.
