Of course, Kellogg's had an ad that said, How many raisins are in a package of Kellogg's Raisin Bran? It was never answered. Whenever anyone answered the question, a tugboard would toot, or a horn would blast, or some other noise would block out the answer.

The CofC adaptation would be:

How many avowed homosexuals are in the Community of Christ priesthood?

[Siren screeeeeeeeeeeeeaming....]

Another ad was There's two scoops of raisins in a package of Kellogg's Raisin Bran.

There's at least two alternate lifestyles in every CofC branch.

There was one public service ad that showed a man on his way to church. On the way, he passed a young Jewish boy. His body language showed that he was offended. A little further, he passed a young black boy. Same reaction. Then he walked up to the church to go inside.

The voice-over said, If you can't find God out here, you won't find him in there.

In the CofC version the man approaching a CofC meetinghouse would walk past a Gay Pride Parade featuring men wearing nothing but leather straps simulating having sex with each other on a float, then walk by a bearded man wearing makeup. Then, as the camera swept from the Parade to the entrance of the CofC building, the voice-over would say, If you don't like alternate lifestyles out here, you won't like it in there.

Just some thoughts.

But on your last note, Lois. The First Presidency doesn't know for sure, either. It only knows one thing, and one thing only -- that it aspires to wield authority that would make both the Pope cringe, and Kim Il Jong jealous.

George
