Lois, I don't believe that Satan qualifies as a false christ, or false messiah, because he is not, and never has been a man. I personally believe that the correct understanding is that Satan promotes false christs, but he has never been one himself.

That's the reason why there are so many "fully franchised" salvation outlets in the world. In order to discredit Jesus as Lord and only Savior, Satan has set up false salvation under other names and guises. Only one will not do, because ultimately, being false, they are all unsatisfactory. In light of this, Satan has to provide a cafeteria to pick from. Likewise, he need not be concerned with whether these multiple religions are logically consistent with each other, because chaos suits his purposes. If the world can be persuaded to see salvation as nothing more than a fraudulent secular free-for-all, with different religions competing for market share by offering unverifiable afterlife benefits in exchange for labor, devotion, and MONEY$$$$$$ -- with Jesus just another competing franchise peddler like Ray Kroc -- Satan can achieve his ends.

It isn't just "silly women" who can be "led away captive." Some of the best minds in the church are male, and they have been giggling and blushing at Satan's pickup lines.

George
