Subject: To Raging Winds.....Story Complete!

Here it is:

RS looked at Shining Star. She was beautiful, like her mother. She had Raging Winds’ courage and bravery. She was brilliant, truly brilliant.

Raging Winds also looked down at the foal Rainbow Hope. RS was his mate, and Shining Star and Rainbow Hope were their twins. Shining Star was the filly, Rainbow Hope was the colt. Both were brave. RS, Raging Winds, and their twins lived in Waterfall Valley in the Land of the Wild Horses. The Land of the Wild Horses was in Balinor. Who knew their happiness would turn into terror?

Shining Star and Rainbow Hope woke up. They both felt that something was wrong. They turned around. RS and Raging Winds were gone. Their loving parents were gone.

The Shifter had captured RS and Raging Winds. The Shifter was cruel. The twins had no idea of what had happened. “So much for Christmas.” muttered RS. “Don’t worry, honey, the twins will get us out.” Raging Winds tried to reassure her. RS sighed. “I sure hope so.”

“Where are Mom and Dad?” Rainbow Hope asked his sister. “I don’t know.” Shining Star replied. “But something tells me that the Shifter is at work.” “I agree.” “Finally we agree on something.” Shining Star giggled. “Let’s go to the Celestial Valley, to go find Mom’s friend Sundancer.” And so the foals started on their quest to find their parents.

Sundancer stood by the water’s edge. He could just make out two small figures coming toward him. They were horses. He started to fret. The only time a horse came to the valley was when they needed help. He wondered if RS was in trouble. Shining Star and Rainbow Hope approached him. “Shining Star! Rainbow Hope! What a surprise! And Merry Christmas! Is RS well?” “We don’t know. Dad and her were captured…. By the Shifter.”

Shining Star finished telling the story. “We’ve got to find them.” Rainbow Hope said softly. He was a bit shy toward the stallion. He was full-grown, and, worse yet, had a horn. He tried not to think about what the Shifter would be like. Probably worse. Sundancer followed the twins to Waterfall Valley. They needed to strategize.

“I’ve been to the Valley of Fear, it’s no place for foals, guys.” “Hey! I’m a girl!” Shining Star objected to this statement. “Let me go.” Sundancer said. “If they’re in Castle Enita, forget it. Your mother would never forgive me!” “Maybe she would.” “Yeah, right. And I’m the Lord of the Animals.” “You are?” Sundancer laughed. “Lead the way.” Shining Star said. “To the Valley of Fear.”

The Shifter was in his tower room. “Ha ha! I pulled it off! I captured RS and Raging Winds!” There was a knock at his door. “It’s open.” Kylie slithered in. She was all snake now. “I suggest you check the Watching Bowl, sir.” “Very well, Kylie.” He walked over to the Bowl. Unlike the Watching Pool, the waters were red-blood red. He saw Sundancer and the twins coming toward the castle. “Curse them! They know!” “Well, it’s not hard, Master! Who else would capture two lead horses?”
Kylie was right, for once. “I have a task for you. Set traps around the area. Mark my words, Kylie: DO IT OR DIE!!” “Yes, master!”

RS was clearly annoyed that this had happened. Raging Winds tried to calm her. “The twins are very clever. They’ll find us.” “Sure they will! Like after the end of time!” “Calm down! He’ll hear us!” Raging Winds whispered. “Yeah, right!”

Sundancer, by experience, knew where the Valley of Fear was: West of the rainbow and east of the stars. “How do you know where the Valley of Fear is?” “Believe me, I’ve been there. When Numinor got captured, I tried to free him. Atalanta helped. A mare by the name of Spellbinder wanted to help, but it was dangerous. It’s no place for foals, really.” “But it’s our parents. We must. For them.” Shining Star said firmly. Let me warn you that all stories must end. Unfortunately, that is the case with this one. The foals will continue. But for now, that, my friends, was that.
