No words can express the deep sorrow we all have for all of the Davenport family....parents, sisters, brother, grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends. We will never forget Ashley's beautiful smile, but we can take comfort that we will see her again.

of flags around right now, but there does not have to be. (If you find one for sale -- BUY IT -- especially if the proceeds go to the Red Cross or victom relief funds. We need to buy American products whenever possible as

Like the rest of the world, we are shocked and dismayed by the sinister attack leveled at the proud city of New York today. We would like to take this time to say that our thoughts and prayers are going out to the victims and their families.
Right now, as we sit comfortably reading our email, countless paramedics, police officers, and firemen are fighting an uphill battle to save as many human lives as possible.
Also, when this horrible day comes to a close, and we turn off our lights to go to sleep, the men and women of our armed forces will be taking steps to protect us all as we slumber.
We would like to offer a simple �thank you� to all these men and women.

I know Rick & I lost our cool Friday night, and I hope everyone understands why. It's not cause we don't like it when we don't win (Judy Morton's words)....we don't like it one little bit when someone leads the whole race and gets taken out on the last lap and this isn't the first time this has happened there! The flagman should be watching the leaders, not the back of the pack! Things like this are uncalled for. We go to race and have a good time and when no black flag is given when there should be one is downright dirty on the part of this racetrack. Someone said its because we aren't Mortons, but the truth is; its because we are Stephens. We've won more races this year, more than we ever have at Dacusville. And you want to know why? It's not cheating on fuel or oil as some people go around saying.......its because of Rick's R&D and VERY hard work! And "non" Stephens people can't stand it.

I want to ask a favor of you drivers. At the drivers meeting this Friday night (8-31), ask them to hire a spotter to stand up with the flagman. They should be watching the back of the pack while the flagman watches the leaders. This could help avoid the arguing because of the lack of black flags. Do you all think this might work? Any other suggestions?

I've thought long and hard about all of this, I'm not happy with the way I handled myself this past Friday. When you feel your child has been shafted.......well, you get my meaning. Hopefully this week will be better.

Go out there & win everyone. We average at least 3 wins every week which is pretty good considering out of all those go-karts running, we have like 8 or 9 motors in all. Good odds, huh?

There sure was some good racing last night!! All this talk about our fuel........well, we showed them didn't we? Lets see now, Ricky, Tyler, Becki had their fuel supplied to them & you see that they all won. And don't forget Mark Williams who was driving Justin's go-kart in Jr. Stock. He also had his fuel supplied & ran a good 2nd.
Ricky showed his driving skills in medium where he held off several other fast go-karts that wanted the win just as bad.
Tyler took the lead as the white flag dropped to pull if off in super heavy. Zach dropped on the rear of stock heavy to finish 3rd in that race. Looks like Zach needs to seriously consider moving from medium to heavy?? What do you say?
Becki was protested in Jr. Unrestricted, so we didn't get home until around 3am. But it was worth every minute of it, as Stephens Racing Engines continues to show them where all the "horsepower" is!!
I am very proud of each and everyone of you and I'm especially proud of Rick who continues to put his heart and soul in every one of your motors!

I've finally got the internet back, but it will take some time to re-create our website. I'm having to spend the night with my mom every couple of days (she is recuperating from surgery), so it will take longer than expected. If you have any suggestions, please e-mail me!
Here are the finishes from Foothills on Friday (7-13), sorry if I don't know where you finished (had to leave early from the track):
Stock Light - Dale Stancil -?
Stock Medium - Ricky Stephens - 5th
Zach Dillon - 8th?
Stock Heavy - Dale Robertson - ?
Super Heavy - Tyler Stephens - 2nd
Johnny Davis - 4th
Amateur - Ian Perry - 1st
Perry Robertson - 3rd
Jr. Unrestricted - Trae' Padgett - 1st
Beginner - Christopher Sammons - 2nd

Also at Riverside Kartway in Cliffside, NC on 7-14-01, there was certainly a crowd of karters from all over the Southeast there! Chad Tweed ran 2 Jr. classes, finished I think about 12th in one and crashed on the last lap of the other, which was unavoidable due to lap traffic.
David Scott ran 2 Jr. Sportsman classes - they didn't even have a blue-plate class. He finished 10th i think in one, the other I'm not sure.
They both had alot of competition and did very well!

In other news, Robert Pritchett called to inform us that Kayla finished 1st at Windy Hill after a crash in the heat race.

The #12 of Justin Williams in the Amateur class was protested again last night (7-6). He was found legal on all counts, fuel & oil included! Congratulations to Justin on his 4th win of the season!
Waiting on any news from Kayla Pritchett! She hit the fence on the backstretch in the Jr. Stock race. Hope all is well!
