Hello, if you are talking about George Stephenson b-1781 d-1848, the grandfather of the industrial revolution and his son Robert Stephenson b-1803 d-1859, my great grandmother was Annie Ethel Stephenson b-1893 d-1987 who married my great grandfather George Bate b-1889 d-1977.
6 days before my great grandmother passed away she told me I had an ancestor that was famous and that he had built a locamotive steam engine called the rocket, I believe the closeness from reading up on George Stephenson since she has told me that, his son Robert would have been her Great Grandfather. If you are talking about the same George Stepenson you can email me and i possibly could help you out for I have studied a little bit on him and even tried doing a family tree which I have started.
