I just happened to type the name "Busardo" in and came across the old message I had posted and actually got a reply!
My grandfather, Vincent Busardo emigrated to Kings County, Brooklyn in 1903 at the age of 20. Through researching I learned his parents names were Giovanni Busardo & Grazia Gianni. I really don't know much about his family as my grandfather died in 1923. I found out he had siblings. A few emigrated to NY. One was his older brother Calcedonio Busardo who cameto NY around 1900 I think. He was born in 1872 so he would have been around 29-30 yrs. A sister Anna came and stayed with her brother. A younger brother Guiseppe (joseph) also came in 1906 when he was 14 years old. I also found the names Maria Anna, Rosaria, and Francesco Paolo Busardo as my grandfathers siblings. I know Guiseppe and Calcedonio returned to Palermo. I think Calcedonio returned around 1936. Guiseppe (Joseph) showed up on SS Death Index as having died in 1968 in Palermo. He had become a US Consulate for Italy.
What interested most is what you wrote about your grandfather Vincent's story about the family originally being from France and their name being Busardaux. I remember hearing somewhere growing up that I was part French and Italian from my mother's father. But as you wrote I don't really know truth from fiction!
Any of the names I mentioned ring any bells? I don't recognize any names you mentioned. However, there is someone who has researched the Busardo name who I've contacted in the past after reading her postings. Her father's name was Vincent but he is not my grandfather Vincent. And your grandfather Vincent is still another Vincent Busardo. I think she has posted on Joe's Italian site and quite a few places. If you google Palermo or Busardo you should find some of her postings.
