Coats/Horne Family

I am looking for information on two individuals. One is a Gideon Coats. All I know of the man is that he was born around 1824, I would assume in Indiana but can not be sure. I have no siblings and no parents. I DO however know that he served in the Civil War as his widow was recieving a widows pension, the family was located in Missouri during the 1880 census and when he died 3 years later the family was living in Elkhart Indiana. His daughter married about 7 years later in Wisconsin. There was alot of moving for the family and I am unsure why.

The second person I am looking for information on is my husbands great grandfather. Originally the family name was Horn but my father in law changed it to Horne at some point, not sure why. The great grandfathers name was Richard Horn and he was married to a lady named Laura. That is all we know other than the fact that they most likely lived in Texas.
