bundy family brick wall

trying to find thomas bundy. buried in quincy cemetary boone iowa 1895, he married mary ellen wilcox in henderson county ill. 1867/68, they moved to boone iowa shortly after that. I found a william bundy as a hired man in henderson county ill. we believe he is a brother to thomas. william henry wilcox and elizabeth hopper are mary's parents. we have old family letters from a john bundy ( his brother) and an olive, olivia????? bundy from albia ks. also there is a letter from a eli and sarah a bundy in darlington but it doesn't say what state. census records on thomas bundy say he is born in penn. indiana, ohio , or tenn., not even his children knew. one of the census records did ssay that his father was born in peen. or tenn. and his mother we can't tell what state it says. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it is as if he was fropped here then disappeared.
