sandy: As you can see my last name is ray, to avoid a lenghty narrative, while researching by family I came across a family of ray's who originated in mass. in salem (essex co.) I found a daniel ray transported to the plymouth colony by the court at newgate, this would not mean he was a felon, research has reveled at that period in history, the english courts were very currupt and a thriving business of kidnapping people to send to the colonies as indentured servants was very profitable if you had connections....any way a salior 19yrs old by the name of daniel ray was sentenced to transport july 1632 and departed august 1632 for the plymouth colony, he married a bethia jones, betheia was a small child when she came with her family in the mayflower and was one of the first origional people to land at plymouth, this I got from a thing written by the first govenor who later in his old age wrote about those people and what became of them, daniel had a brother simon ray who came over about 1640 (not sure of the date) daniel and bethia had 5 children I found and in their line was a robert ray, you may want to check the daniel ray line out, hope I helped you...james ray
