Yes it was a nice win.If you watch closely you can see the maturity level increasing not only as individuals but in a team concept.
Kudos to the coach.Good substitution pattern, excellent use of timeouts,to both stop the bleeding when the Greyhounds got hot, and to set up game winner.
Can't say enough about Bacon's outstanding play-has become a force inside, and is showing great energy and leadership.Wants the ball and knows what to do with it.
Leon continues to stick in the face of his detractors, developing an array of shots from all over the floor---two big late threes today, drives to the hoop,a deadly mid range jumper---something rare in bball today, and continued excellence from the charity stripe.
Kudos to Ish today...I'm not always sure what he does but I'm pretty sure he's doing it better lately.
How about Costner--a big three in each half as well as two huge late free throws...9 nice points
While still not near his best, Wesley's 9 second half points including a late NBA three were also big.
Brandon also showed signs of attacking the hoop more aggressively. His defense was very good fighting through screens.
Generally the team defense was very good, holding Loyola to 22 first half points. It was only after Barney got red hot and Patsos working the somewhat incompetent refs ,that the game tilted toward the Greyhounds.
This officiating crew was just not that good on either end,but when Patsos did his thing ,he appeared to have them under his control and the game tightened. Nick Leon was the victim on three occasions.Twice he was called for a carry that no one has seen since before the days of Earl the Pearl. He also almost had his head taken off by Harvey on a push off while driving that could have only been missed by these three blind mice.
Congrats again...as a few of us have said, while still underdogs, this was a winnable game and the team came through...part of the process is learning how to win the close ones and standing your ground when challenged at crunch time. These young players could have easily folded when they lost the lead, but they didn't.

Leon continues to impress. Fairfield vs Han who always kills us is his next test. I said earlier that improvement vs the league would be my measure of the staff this year. So far I think that decision is more positive than negative. Competitive vs Siena and Niagara. 2 wins in league. One vs lower team(Canisius) and one vs middle rung (Loyola). Can we handle Fairfield, Iona Marist and Manhattan? Wins at least at home vs those teams would to me represent real progress this year. I liked most of what I saw today from everyone. Good energy, better decisions, hard defense and fewer silly errors. Remember of 10 who played today 9 are sophs or frosh. Hope upward trend continues vs middle and lower rungs. I'll worry about top rung with 2 or so more players

Can't improve on what's been said by all above. From the staff to every individual player well done. Just to give some props to Jack Hill. The kid, even at his height, can sky. Like Costner gets his hands on a lot of balls. When he gets stronger he'll be a good player in the rotation up front.

Don't want to get too carried away because we still have our deficiencies. However, what the last few games have shown is that things just might be getting better. Players are developing, still playing hard and each is seeing valuable playing time.

Love the way Brandon, Nick and Wesley are rotated. Same for Ryan, Costner, Reid and even Hill. Getting Gooding back will be a plus. Each player is getting valuable court experience and is responding quite well. It's a long season and there will be some stinkers but think the team will begin to get some respect. Winning is more fun than losing. Students will be back early next week and maybe some enthusiasm will develop for Thursday night.
