jajk, reasonable post but I wonder if perhaps you did not overstate your argument much as the bogger might have overstated his point of view. Only a fool would say that you can't recruit at SPC. However, to label the more rational of us who know that recruiting at SPC is, to use a better word, "challenging", is also not understanding reality. It had always been that way as far back as my memory serves. Anyone who thinks otherwise has never recruited.


So there is a middle road to this debate. One which I believe is the accurate one i.e recruiting at SPC has it's special challenges over and above most other schools. Doesn't say it can't be done or won't be done. Just recognizes a bit of reality. Regarding last years class my opinion is that it was outstanding if only for Wesley and Ryan. The others have potential but that is what recruiting is all about at SPC as well as a lot of other schools.. Except for an occasional home run or triple we recruit under the radar players with potential. Think that was an important point made by the blogger.



I also agree that Lampley would have helped this year. Think, with the help of the staff, he began to realize that he wasn't going to "the guy". Once that realism set in you could even see improvement towards seasons end. I was the first to post that he looked very good in preseason. Sometimes we forget that freshmen year, except for the superstars, is a learning experience. Same goes for Brandon this year. He has shown his value and like most has some areas to work on.


One of the surest ways to improve recruiting is to have a winning team. Would argue that we recruited well for several years after the performance of the '67 and '68 teams. Winning has a way of doing that. As far as faith and hope that is indeed part of the equation. I agree to rely solely on that is pie in the sky. On the other hand to fail to recognize or dismiss what has gone on for the last several games, and witnessed by those in attendance, is just as blind.
