Meridian-Maloney Ct High School. 6'6" small forward. Shooter and rebounder with also can go to the basketball. Two star recruit. Like most of our gets, counting on his upside.

Playing at Monroe JC, sounds like a pretty good player:
Phil Kasiecki writing at Hoopville:

"Jeron Belin (6'6" Jr. SF, Meriden (CT) Maloney HS) Active athlete played well by doing what he typically does, which is playing aggressive basketball. He finds a way to score and will draw contact often, and scores many points off loose balls or offensive rebounds and close to the basket. He went for 19 points in one game along the way. Mid-major plus/high-major minus prospect."

I hope this doesn't mean that one of "sitters" will not be back.

We have two to give, after allowing for Conley and Shumate. Three if Akeem graduates and decides to move on.

Monroe CC not to be confused with Monroe Junior College (Bronx). Still very talented program. National runner ups
in '07, Regionals in '08, and about a 16-5 record this year. Kinda lost track of Jeron last year (thought he had gone prep or maybe another CC), but has really stepped it up after only averaging single digits at start of season (injury?). Last 15 games averaging about 17/8. A slasher who gets to the line shooting about 70%. Considered an average defender, decent passer, likes to mix it up inside. Will add to what will be a class heavy in Juniors next year. Not the perimeter threat we all hope for but should be a contributor at the 3.

Played at Polk Community College in Fla last year very strong program. Must have transferred north to Monroe in Rochester.

Question: What is Belin's status? Has he given us a verbal, or is he just on our target list?
If he's on board, looks like he competes with Gooding and Costner for floor time. Since he has two years eligibility, I guess Dunne feels Belin will get major minutes. Brilliant analysis, no? :>)
If Conley is a solid contributor and Belin is, too, a wing jumpshooter should be our next target.
Liked the way Wesley started taking the ball to the rim when his shot was off....then, gaining confidence, his jumpers started to fall. Next two games are very tough, Iona away and Siena home.....may have to wait a while for a "W"......

"Medium interest" expressed this fall by Tennessee, Murray State, Jacksonville and Duquense, among others.
Thankfully, we won't be battling Felician for Jeron!
