We are listed on the CAA site.

"One of the top senior high school basketball players in New York City has yet to find a home to play basketball next season.

M. Wingate

Keith Spellman
Thomas Jefferson Campus guard Keith Spellman having arguably his best season of varsity basketball career has received interest from local schools such as Rutgers, St. John's, Seton Hall, and Fordham. However, as the Public School Athletic League regular season wraps up Spellman has yet to sign a scholarship offer to play Division I basketball.

"He had offers early," said Jefferson head coach Lawrence Pollard. "However with him waiting so late schools are not sitting around waiting on a 6-foot-2 guard." Pollard does not know for sure why the shooting guard averaging 19.5 points per game has yet to reach a decision. Although, the Orange Wave head coach does believe that his senior leader should have made a commitment earlier in order to solely focus on school and basketball.

Spellman has also received interested from other school such as George Mason, but many of the schools interested in Spellman either have found other players at his position. For example, St. John's was highly interested in Spellman but ended up signing Omari Lawrence. Another factor in Spellman's inability to find a school is that some schools simply do not have a scholarship for the senior guard at this moment.

While Spellman's head coach is worried that his second leader scorer doesn't know where he is going to college; Spellman has shown no worries regarding the situation. "I think I am more concerned than Keith is," Pollard told NYCHoops.net. "He is not concerned. He told me he is going to wait until after the season to make his decision."

Evaluation whether or not waiting until season end is a good move for Spellman can only be evaluated over time. Pollard feels as though Spellman can be a great fit for any college that decides to give him a scholarship. The Jefferson head coach believes that Spellman's athleticism and hard work ethic will make a difference in any program and believes the guard can surprise many basketball fans on the next level like Quincy Douby (formerly of Rutgers) and Stephen Curry (Davidson).

There is no doubt that Spellman still has time to make a decision regarding his future. However, with the number of available scholarships for his position dwindling around the country maybe Spellman will realize that it is getting late really early. "

Kid is undoubtedly a talent who would excell at our level.

Unfortunately, word is that he will only settle for higher, even if it means serving a prep year.

The offer is there, either from John or virtually any other coach in the MAAC, if they thought there was interest.

Contrary to what the article implies, there are a number of majors with available ships. Most likely, whether realistic or not, the kid may feel he can still be selective among the bigs.
