Excellent observations. With Lampley, Shumate and now Mumford (status unknown) gone, Reid never used and our walk-on just that, the term short bench is as short as it can get. No question the staff (read head coach) is doing an excellent job in substituting while keeping us competitive.

Regarding Gooding, as Sludge and Cindy point out, all is speculation. However, upon reflection I much rather hope he stays. While I see Akheem more as a situational role player, IMO he brings a lot to the table. Akheem is a warrior and there is no doubt in my mind that his attitude/effort reflects upon other players. Second, Akheem is our best defender (see games against Seton Hall and Loyola (Barney)) among others. While Akheem is turnover prone (gets ahead of himself), he is an excellent passer (eye opening pass to Bacon today) and a steadying influence. Finally, as SPC Fan observed, AG is outstanding in the open court. And did I mention that he can rebound? Unfortunately, God doesn't give everybody, everything and we all know about his lack of any outside shot.

If it sounds like a fan, I am. Don't see Akheem as a starter on a top tier team but I see a 15 minute per game player. Hope he stays.

Up Front......
Agree about Akeem.....he and Hill (if Hill develops) can play an important role supporting Bacon and two other starters up front. Akeem's defensive skills can come in mighty handy in end game situations and he tries very hard night in and night out.
I am on the verge of throwing in the towel on Costner.....I am not sure I've observed enough development to warrant holding out much hope. Guess we'll see.
If Belin and Conley can jump in and contribute significantly to an eight man rotation, (Bacon, Jenkins, Leon, Hall, Gooding, Hill) we can realistically aim for the 3-5 slot in the MAAC next season.
