One only had to watch SPC's last three games to appreciate how much a front line player who can rebound and score would help Ryan up front.
Akeem occasionally shows flashes (Iona game) and Hill may eventually be able to contribute consistently, but if Jeron honors his verbal, the club may take a big step forward (no pun intended).
Since I have absolutely nothing else to do for the next hour, I will review our bench scoring vs. the opposition, in order to clearly illustrate how much the club would be helped by having at least two, if not three, new (or drastically improved) players in the rotation next season.

Looking at the game notes before last night:When our bench outscores our opponent we went 6-3. When our bench was outscored, we were 6-14. 0-1 when bench scoring is equal.

Our bench last night: 4 points, 7 rebounds, 0 assists. (So that makes us 6-15 when our bench is outscored)

To be honest, I was surpised our bench ourscored the opponent 9 times. I would have guessed around 6.

Got tired after going back to January 9th, or 16 games.....but the trend is clear; no need for an MIT degree to interpret the significance of:

SPC Bench: 123 points, 110 rebounds
Opponents Bench: 308 points, 151 rebounds

SPC bench averages 7.7 ppg.
Opponents average 19.3 ppg.

If we included Ish Traore's ppg/rpg to the above and included the opponents fifth man, the disparity would be even greater.

Bottom line....stats and the naked eye clearly indicate rotation spots 5-6-7-8 need to drastically improve their contributions in order for the club to take a step forward.

Belin and Conley make up half that equation. I'm hoping. Let's hope Hill, Hall and Costner can significantly improve their numbers...they will have to, if they want to hold onto spots 7-8 in the rotation of a good club.

Count me among those who think Jack Hill can do it.

OK, off to do something socially meaningful... :>)
