Subject: The Krycek/Mulder argument holds up
In reply to: Islandgirl 's message, "More on matchups. . ." on 08:20:03 07/24/03 Thu

I agree with SMH about the Krycek and Mulder dynamic. It's very different to the interaction between any other male characters. Marita was a means to an end and even if Krycek were gay, he wouldn't be averse to getting one over on one of the 'players' be it in a sexual way or not.

For me, Krycek achieved his gay icon status when he first appeared in the sexy black leather jacket. His actions almost always stemmed from his desire to protect himself but every so often a skewed loyalty to Mulder would come through and for a short amount of time, he was concerned for someone else. It's clear that the writers never meant to make Krycek's sexuality overt but I felt it strongly as did a lot of other fans.

As to couples - I always liked that man, the local sheriff, that helped Scully during Christmas Carol/Emily. He was very cute and considerate. I could imagine her putting her trust in him. Then Mulder came into things and he was forced into the background.

We never had much from Skinner's love life, after the ep. with his wife did we? I do like the sound of Mrs Scully and him, but would Skinner not prefer the daughter, given the chance? ;-)
