I have had two students with this disorder (OK--here goes--I am a consultant for twelve school districts in the Special Education area of Physically and Other Health Impaired. My kids are ones who have medical conditions that impact their education.) From what I can gather, this disorder affects the nerves--noncancerous tumors can appear on nerves anywhere in the body. One of my students lost an eye because the optic nerve to one eye was where they appeared. I certainly hope that her brother has better luck. I wish him well!
