I really tend to kind of agree with DD! First of all, although "XF" is still better than 99 percent of what is on TV nowadays, I honestly don't think any of the eps this — with maybe the exception of "Millennium" — have been comparable to the better episodes of past seasons. I also don't think DD would be pulling a "David Caruso" if he left the show at this point. DD has been with "XF" for seven years, after all. Caruso left "NYPD Blue" after — what? - one or two seasons.
An eighth season without DD would be an unmitigated disaster! If they do go ahead and work out a way for him to stay for the eighth season, I think they *REALLY* need to go ahead and let Mulder and Scully be "romantically involved"; whether that means marriage or whatever. It would add a new dimension to the show and allow DD and GA to portray different types of scenes.
