It takes place in 2019. Or maybe it's supposed to be 2020 by now; the pilot was set in 2019. The male lead is in his early 30s, but in one ep they gave his birth date as being in January of 1988.
"Dark Angel" takes kind of a new twist on the "will they/won't they" concept. Logan suffered a spinal cord injury (he was shot) in the pilot so for Max and him (Max is a girl) it's more a question of "can they or can't they"?
Unlike XF, the fact that there *IS* a mutual attraction has been made fairly obvious and fairly central to the development of the series. Unlike the MSR, which is pretty much of a relationship between people of equal ages, experiences, backgrounds, etc. there are more differences for them to sort through. . .he's white, over 30 and divorced while she's about 19 and kind of Hispanic. (She's actually supposed to be a genetic hybrid; but the actress who plays her is Hispanic.)
