I would think the Hollywood crowd would like that sort of 'poking fun at itself' kind of thing. Or may be they wouldn't!

I have no idea why they'd submit something like FPS and Theef unless they thought their only chance of winning was in technical categories, which the did win! Oddly, The X-Files was listed in the LA Times as one of the top Emmy winners! It was one of the few shows that did receive mutiple awards.
