It made me think of a Columbo ep too. Any of those
mystery type things where someone explains it ast the
end.
But once again Mulder was the one to figure out most of
it. At least Scully got him back at the end by claiming
she knows how he turned his head all the way around.

And I didn't think Mulder sounded like Tony Randall.
Maybe Scully has a thing for 70 year olds!
