I've been thinking and chatting with people and I honestly don't think this devleopment WILL turn into a soap opera device. It doesn't have too. I say this because of how carefully he has handled things so far. If I thought that any of the eps seemed like a soap (and I used to watch a soap for years, I know the formula) I would gag! But CC constantly amazes me how well he can avoid the cliches of sappy drama.
He has never done anything obvious.

I was appehensive too about this, beleive me, and I was quite stunned that he went with it (I'd heard rumors before) but the possible ideas where this could go could be quite intriguing and not at all typical TV fare. And as someone I talked to said, this plotline will be less about a romance and more about the mythology. It brings the mythology to the forefront again like never before.
This won't be ordinary and we won't be seeing it develop the way it would on a sitcom like Mad About You when they decide to add a baby to boost ratings.
