I don't want to be responsible for people getting eyestrain or wearing out their VCRs trying to find me in Fight Club! :-) It would be nice to do an ep that was generally disliked though (it's fun to rant!) so maybe FC can serve that purpose.

Pilot is one of my top 5 eps and I never seem to get tired of talking about it. Comparing the two duos is a good idea! Didn't CC say once that he felt so lucky that DD and GA clicked as well as they did right off? Maybe GA and RP did too. They did audition a lot of actors for the part. Maybe they were looking for a type of tension between them that is different from the Mulder-Scully kind.

I certainly don't want RP and GA to not gel well together because that would be boring to watch. All actors haver to be convincing in how they relate onscreen no matter what their characters' relationship is, good, bad or indifferent. But I hope they aren't like DD and GA are and I would be surprised if they were because I think what those two actors have is rare. But I think we should be able to tell early on in S8 (the first ep really) if Ga and RP are clicking. Just as long as there's no "clicking" under the sheets, right? ;-)
