Now you know my theory on the HWS almost-kiss: I strongly felt (and still do, but perhaps not quite so adamantly) that Mulder was intent on stopping Scully from going away from him. He would have kissed her then to prevent that - if he wanted to kiss her that badly, I reckon he would not have almost let her leave him for good before 'making a move'. Was it - and its all theoretical - possible that he knew this was what *Scully* wanted? So, I'm still not convinced about all this wanting to kiss her, then or at other time. He is quite adept at psychological manipulation, after all... The quality (or lack of) of the Millennium kiss spoke volumes. The kiss was 'nice' and 'nice' indicates no deep meaning. Affection, awkwardness, even slight embarrassment. That's what I saw. Their words afterwards were much more telling.
