Subject: But isn't that true of most dramas today?

I can agree with your point about people having trouble following XF. Especially the myth arc when they will have just a few myth eps a year and spread them out over a season.

But most dramas on today are following a 'soap opera' format now. It used to be that you could watch a one hour drama any given week and not have to know what happened in previous eps. Now most of the show like NYPD Blue, ER and The Practice havew continuing storylines from week to week and you really have to follow them closely to know what's going on. For instance I really don't watch The Practice but I heard Bobby got married (in the Season fianle I think). So just as your non XF friends would wonder how Scully got pregnant, I was saying, I didn't even know Bobby had a serious girlfriend.
