I liked this ep a lot!! Mulder and Scully were having such fun with it. And we even got "fun" Skinner, which has got to be a first!! (Even when Skinner got lucky back in "Avatar", he didn't actually seem to be enjoying himself that much.)
The bathtub scene was a hoot, especially when Scully was trying to convince Mulder that Tea had a crush on him. I had to wonder if that was maybe an inverse of some conversation that had occurred early on in the Duchovny-Leoni relationship. (i.e. Tea: I think Gillian has a crush on you; David: She does not have a crush on me.)
Can we drop CC off a cliff?? PLEASE??? I want DD and GA to write and direct all the eps from now on!!
I also think this ep answers for the first time, a timeline question most philes have had for a long time. At the end of "The X-Files Movie: Fight the Future", the X-Files were reopened. The presumption was that Mulder and Scully were being put back on the XF unit. Instead, when Season 6 opened, we find Fowl Thing and Jeffrey (The Dweeb) Spender running the X-Files and Mulder and Scully still stuck on the anti-terrorism squad, leaving many of us to wonder what happened.
Well, according to the chronology, the events of the Lazurus Bowl took place "18 months earlier". That would put it after the movie and before the beginning of Season 6. It would mean that Mulder and Scully were briefly back on the X-Files, then sent back to anti-terrorism for trying to arrest a cardinal for the murder of a still living man.
