I think that that woman was there to guide Scully. To keep her open and to direct her to Daniel and back to Collen's place to speak with her about helping Daniel. I also believe she was there to help Daniel. I think she put into motion the "healing" Daniel needed to go through in order to release all the guilt and pain he had pent up b/c of his feelings for Scully and the pain he had caused his family in order for him to get well.

The Mulder thing was actually kind of funny. He picked up one of those Hats with Hair while he was in England, and was wearing it around. That I thought was cute.

Scullystar, who wished SHE was the one who had offered to make Mulder some tea.
