used lead into the topic of missing children? I assumed that Amber Lynn, being the latest missing child (who also had been taped by the human kidnapper) was next on his list to grab. She was the bridge so to speak, between the children who had been kidnapped and killed and the children who the walk-ins had taken to protect. Amber also was needed to steer Mulder to his sister. Sort of a complex plot there.
The walk ins made the parents write the notes--just as they made Mulder write down the name of the abandoned Air Force base. Sort of a twist on the topic of "Ghost Writing" or Ouija Board messages I guess.
