I hope that doesn't sound too nit-picky. I just wanted it to last longer. I am of course very pleased they had a 'special' theme night. It must be the BBC's attempt to make amends. That's how I look at it. I enjoyed all of it. 'The Simpsons' ep I'd seen before and I love the bit where Mulder shows his badge and his picture has him reclining in the red speedos.
Chris Carter must have said all the stuff he said on the documentary many times, but he always manages to sound enthusiastic. It was good to see examples of his earlier work, in the clips they chose and also to hear him talk about Mulder and Scully as both being him. I always enjoy it when someone can explain their creative process a bit. I would have loved a little more behind-the-scenes stuff but I have a feeling that C20th Fox hold onto all that stuff fiercely. I bet they seldom release unedited material to foreign TV companies, when they have the potential to produce their own programmes from it.
And on to the marvellous Pilot - without which, *I* wouldn't be such a fan. IMO, this has to be one of the best pilot eps that have been made. And there was no loss of continuity when the series started properly. Sometimes, lead actors from a pilot don't reappear when a series is finally commissioned. But with TXF, all the action and eveything that was said, particularly Mulder's heart to heart with Scully at the motel, was totally relevant and the basis of everything that came later. It made lots of sense and you can always include the Pilot in any analysis of good episodes because it was spot on.
