This has to take the cake for the most interestingly directed ep. The story wasn't too bad and it was a nice fresh idea to have the parallel universe thing going on.

This is a real tell tale MSR ep even though M and S are not together until the end. I like the brassy 1939 Scully. Reminded me of the American woman ....the one on Titanic who was quite well known. The way she was portrayed in the Titanic movie was kind of like the 1939 Scully. I can't think of her name though. Was it someone Brown? I think she wrote about her survival on the Titanic in real life.

We all can see how much Scully loves Mulder. I think this was our first real indication of her feelings. Yes we could all be that concerned for one of our work partners but I don't think we'd be THAT concerned. Enough to kiss the boss when he gave us the means to save our work partner. No , I don't think so. Scully was bereft. She went through alot of emotions. I loved her slump after she had been to Kersh's office and seen CSM. People have said she isn't a good liar and this showed through in her lame attempt to lie to Kersh's secretary about being in Geoffry's office. Her reaction to finding out that Spender had gone straight to Kersh was such a change over.

My favourite scene and line of the entire show is in this ep and if it wasn't I probably wouldn't like the ep that much. Actually I don't go much on eps where M and S are apart. But this one has other features that make it intersting. The last scene is the best. Scully is a bit flustered at Mulder's incoherent behaviour. She taps her fingers on the bed near his pillow and looks to the others for some kind of support. It is hard to explain what I mean here but it is like she doesn't like to see him off his face.

Mulder's hand tapping her stomach was juch tlaked about in Shipper circles when this ep first aired and I watched this bit very closely. NOt only does he tap her stomach but when he stops tapping, she still continues to lean against his hand. aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh I think I'll go and dig out my tape and watch this again. God I'm pathetic. :-D

Spoilers for Season7 and 8 below[ not MSR ones though]

One thing I had forgotten was that Kersh IS in with CSM. I had forgotten and was kind of giving Kersh the benefit of the doubt. Especially after One Son. Well now we know how he got the director's job. CSM is still pulling strings from the grave....if indeed he is in one.
