I've got to admit my little shipper heart went into overdrive when I read and saw the teasers about Mulder and Scully being "married" and that "Arcadia" wasn't quite as good as I'd hoped it would be. But it was okay. As you said, it kind of suffered from being one of many light-hearted eps during Season 6. Compared to some of the real clunkers we got in Season 6 — like "Terms of Endearment" and "Alpha" — it wasn't bad.
I think Season 6 was probably the most uneven season of "XF". It veered wildly from absolutely superb eps (i.e. "Triangle", "Dreamland", "Milagro", "Two Fathers/One Son", "The Unnatural" and "Field Trip") to really bad ones or ones that at least weren't as good as they could have been.
