Subject: JOIN OUR INTERNET TEAM

We are still looking for volunteers for our new web project. The more the better!

All it involves doing is surfing the web and finding humorous and bizarre websites and reporting them to us (one a week or a thousand a week). You will have a form to enter the URL’s into and the links will then become live on your section of the new site.

It will have it’s own domain separate from Maynardville.Com and you will be listed as editor for your section.

Good sections are still available so sign up so volunteer while your favorite section is still available.

Now since this has never been done before on the net, you may be wondering what we are doing.

Have a look at a website called DMOZ.org. Never heard of it? Don’t feel bad most people haven’t. But you use it every day! It indexes and categorizes websites submitted by volunteers. This database is used by search engines to find sites and all of the major search engines (including Google) use DMOZ.

What we are hoping to do is create the same thing, but focused on humorous sites and sites that have bizarre (space alien…govt conspiracy) content.

Once the directory is off the ground we will build a search engine (already have folks writing the code) to search the web for us. The difference? Our search engine will only search humor and bizarre websites. Studies show that the largest block of time spent on the web is spent searching for humor.

A friend of mine started “The Darwin Awards” a few years ago just as a place to put humorous ways people have accidentally killed themselves. Now it is in the top 10% of websites in the world. We can do better.

The time is yours there is no minimum or maximum you can contribute to us. All we need is for you to volunteer so we can add you to our mailing list. The mailing list and chat room we have will be used to come together as a sort of club and discuss our efforts. I would hope our volunteers will do more than contribute websites…Using the mailing list and chat room I hope they can give us ideas and help us plot the course for the future of the new website.

Join us and become part of the new website…Become part of a national effort to put what is important out front. HUMOR.
