I told Larry Lay that very thing the other night. He told me that the county wouldn't have to build a new jail any time soon. In fact it is his belief that renovating the jail will appease the regulators and the court to the point we will get by. We are allowed to run a small percentage above capacity.

He has a point in one way.

But again, while I respect him for trying to get by on the least amount of money, I disagree on the method.

He has the best interest of the county in mind, but it is my opinion you must take your medicine eventually. Even if it tastes bad you should drink it all in one gulp. Sipping (getting by on a renovation) just prolongs the agony.

Take the money they say we will get from that new resort being built in Andersonville and use it to pay the debt of building a new jail.
