As a professional martial artist I have many swords, most of them custom made, if you want the sword replica to cut you could always tip it with titanium-carbide, (about 1.5mm thick indentinted) into the aluminium blade itself, this would only increase the price by about $50 at the most, and would increase its strength as well.
