OK--I'll give this a "go"
The rebels in this arc summon abductees to remote locations to destroy the 'evidence'. However, I'm lost in some
loopholes. Scully was abducted by the government and subjected to the tests. She was summoned to the mountain by
the chip in her neck. However, the black oil-infected Russian boy was summoned to the mountain also. How is this
possible, since he was never an abductee before?
*I think he and his friend were in the woods looking for their parents. They were calling for them when they got to the scene with the charred cars and bodies. He and his friend were probably out looking for aliens. Somewhere in the show the sites were called "lighthouses" for sightings and abductions.
And yet another peculiarity, Cassandra was the only one abducted at the bridge. Why only her? Was CSM working behind
the scenes in order to abduct his ex-wife to convince his Jeffrey of his quest.
*CSM directed the tests but I think the aliens also abducted her--she may have been a guinnea pig for both groups. Somehow I think the aliens were using her to help them keep tabs on the progress of the human-alien hybrid project. They finally cured her only to take her again (or so I theorize.)
And finally, how does the abduction system work? Do the aliens do the abducting, return them to the Syndicate, they do their own tests, and then release them back to society. That's how it seems to be with Cassandra. However, I don't believe Scully was ever abducted by aliens, just by the Syndicate to mess with Mulder's head.
*I think there are two systems at play here. The aliens may have done the abducting and dropped off the victims to the Syndicate doctors OR the US government pulled off a huge scam to fool the abductees into thinking they were taken. Maybe they were given a hallucinogen like the one that the people in Mulder's apartment and Mulder were given through the water.
I do think that the aliens also did their own abduction thing but those may have been the people with the abnormal brain activity.
