I didn't think you were flippant at all. I'm just not as well versed in the myth as others are. I've never read the coments on AOL or GAWS so I'll just have to take your word for it!

The only thing I can say about the confusion regarding Sam's abduction is that Mulder's memories may be a bit jumbled and it's not too farfetched for him to remember things one way at one point and then remember them a different way at another time. It was a highly traumatic experience for him and his memories may not be accurate. And we know he had doubts because of the Paper Hearts story you bring up. Maybe it's just that the whole alien idea is so hard to believe from the get go that he often has to doubt his own credibility. That's probably one reason he likes having Scully around. :-) If she didn't tell him he might not have the corect information about what he believes then he'd have to do it himself. And then when people like Kritscgau come in and tell him the whole alien thing was a hoax and that just confuses himn even more. I don't think he has the full story yet and I hope we get more on Sam in Season 8.

I think Sam was experimented on and her DNA was used to create the clones just as we saw. Scully was taken but more as a means to hurt Mulder than for any real purpose. CSM like to manipulate Mulder and have control over him and he knows he can do this with Scully so he used her. I think once they had her they did perform tests on her as part of the ongoing process to create 'the one' that Cassandra Spender became. And I guess part of the process caused superovualtion. I always thought that was just an unintentional result but you beg the question of whether or not there is as purpose for THAT too. Who knows?
