I was wondering this very thing about where the myth would go now. That's why I came here just now after about a year.so I don't really have anything overly knowledgable to impart. But I'll give it a go.

The mythology was all about Mulder. Mulder is the only one keeping the mythology going in S8. All the myth eps are about him. I guess the baby could figure strongly now though. Maybe Doggett isn't Mulder's replacement after all. The baby is.

The myth as we know it is ending. When Mulder goes, that will be it. No more myth. I can see only stand alone MOTW eps with Dogsbody from S9 on. Mulder is the myth but I guess the baby could take on it's own related myth. If Scully [GA] stays for S9 and Mulder goes [I'll die if this happens] then I guess it will be baby myth. If [and this is what I want] M and S and baby go, then there will be no more myth. Unless they make something up for Doggett, I can't see any reason to try and meld Doggett into the old myth. Maybe they could, but a fresh approach would be better for a rejuvenated XF. Change the style of the show altogether, I think ,would be the best thing. Bring in another agent and have an entirely new show.And if necessary, an entirely new myth. Maybe something surrounding the new agent. Maybe that agent could be an abductee and has come to work on the X Files to try and piece together her experiences. Or maybe she came to see Fox Mulder as a young woman [abductee] and she now, 9 years later, she wants to emulate him. Hey I've just given CC his new agent's background. hee hee. Or she could have had other paranormal experiences. No more aliens

The movie could star Mulder and Scully big time whether it is myth or stand alone. I'd like to see a myth movie again some day though. If they can come up with something better than "consortium steals baby....M and S have to find baby". Otherwise that would be boring. I hope the movie does have M and S and is very actionpacked and scary. Doggett can be confined to his bed with pneumonia or something and so M and S have to fight the creepy crawlies for him. Can't have man's man Doggett being unable the handle a case now could we?
