Yes, I see the point you're making - Krycek was only 'playing' at being an FBI agent and was always going to be self-conscious at his role. Next to Mulder, the cool and professional agent, Krycek looked less certain and like the also-ran, and didn't want Mulder sussing him out. Although it was a role, though, I remember in Ascension, when K & M were on their way to Skyland Mt, that Krycek was making *such* an effort to get himself on an equal footing with Mulder. All that about accidents caused on the road by exhausted drivers. Their banter was edgy but you could see that Krycek wasn't going to be put down. And that looked like he took it personally, not just part of his role-play. Look,I've wandered right off the topic of leathers. Mmm, lets think of them again. Nice jacket in Tunguska...
