When the "Elvis" mini-series debuts this weekend:

The cast also includes Robert Patrick (’’Terminator 2: Judgment Day’’ and ‘‘The X-Files’’) as Elvis’ father, Vernon Presley;

In a way RP seems kind of young to be playing the father of a grown man, but this is actually probably pretty realistic agewise casting. Back in the 1930s (when Elvis was born) most people, especially in the South, married in their late teens or early 20s and began families almost immediately after marrying. So Vernon was probably only in his mid-40s at the beginning of the Elvis phenomemon.
