...and I bet they didn't confess love for one another either.

My scenerio: At the end of "All Things", Mulder changes to his 'jams (bottoms) & goes to bed. He wakes up after a while, and being highly intuitive, gets up to see if Scully's all right. He finds her awake, sitting on the couch. He asks if she's all right.

"I'm fine," she says (what *else* would Scully say?), "I just like it here. I mean, I just like being here, knowing that you're....(silence)...nearby."

Mulder squats in front of Scully. "I love being near you, too." Silence.

"Uh, Scully? I know there's been a lineup of guys interested in you, but I just...wondered if you would mind if...if I got in line, too."

Scully laughs quietly and shakes her head slightly. "There's no line, Mulder! And besides, you'd get to cut to the front of any line." She looks down, embarassed to realize what she just said.

"Scully," Mulder dips his head to catch her gaze, and she looks up at him. "You're part of my very soul."

She touches his face. After a pause, softly: "And you mine."

He leans towards her and they kiss, lightly at first, then more deeply. They embrace and continue. After some time, Mulder pulls back.

"Scully, I've got to go take a cold shower now before...before...something gets started I can't stop," he confesses. "Then I'll take you home."

Scully shakes her head slightly. "I'll stay here tonight, Mulder. Don't worry about taking me home. And don't take that cold shower!" She breaks into a little smile, thinking of it.

But Mulder protests, starting to speak before he's thought through what he's really going to say. "You can stay here, Scully, but I'm still going to need that cold shower. I don't want you out here while in there..." he nods towards the bedroom, "I'm...uh...uh...uh...*finishing*...what was started here."

Scully leans forward and, after a pause, speaks softly. "I don't want to be out here, Mulder." She kisses his cheek gently. "I want to be in there..." she nods towards the bedroom, "While *we* finish what we've started here."

Mulder jerks his head incrediously to look at her. "Scully?" he says softly, "You sure?"

"I am." she replies, looking at him briefly, then shyly averting her gaze, cognisant of what she's just asked for.

Mulder doesn't move for several seconds, and only the sound of their breathing is heard. Then he breaks out into a wide smile. Rising to his feet, he leans over, swings his arms around her frame, and scoops her up.

She grabs his neck for balance and is laughing as he carries her across the bedroom's threshold.
