Subject: On "It's a him?!"

I didn't think the "him" made it sound like rape either. It only sounded like Scully couldn't believe these stupid people were giving this creature any kind of sentient qualities at all. Or maybe...are slugs sexless? How do they reproduce? How many cells does it have? Maybe they aren't male or female. It sounded like she was surprised at the "him" because they were treating it like a special pet.

But I do think just about every XF ep could be interpreted as having sexual symbolism in it. The ep Ice you mentioned where Mulder and Scully were checking each other's necks was rather erotic.

I see Chantal's point on the "him" though too and I wouldn't put it past the writers to have the slug be sexual on some level. The show has always dealt with very sexual themes such as other early eps like Genderbender where Scully was almost violated in that too. Heck even Mulder saying the frying pan in PMP was "violated" adds that connotation to its meaning.

LOL on the nanothingies! Who knows? Maybe the slash fic writers already have made that connection!
