I hate those horrifying PreXF errors...

I once wrote an email to tell the author that their time line was completely impossible = they had M&S in a Pre-TXF date ROLLERBLADING in what was probably suposed to be (judging from the way they spoke) about 1976. While that would make Mulder 14, Scully would be about 11 or 12, so it also made the story oooky ... I declined to tell the author, despite their concept of a story line, that although through the '70's I knew parents who served booze and supplied their kids with pot, I didn't know of any who allowed their kid to have a "sleep over" with another kid with whom they were having a romantic relationship. DANG! Where were these fanfic parents when you needed them???

It drives me CRAZY when fanfic writers ignore history, esp. with "PreTXF" fanfic.

I can often feel the hemispheres of my brain separate when I read some of this stuff.

Get this -

TeenagedScully as a cheerleader wearing a sportsbra (??) as a shirt (???) as 16 year old in 1980???

Or Mulder wearing "hip hop" clothes in what chronologically would be 1978?

I am just waiting for TeenAged Mulder & Scully to be fooling around on their PC on the internet while their pager goes off and they pick up their cordless phone to call their friend on a cellular phone to discuss the latest Britany Speers CD, only there is no Soviet Union and old men in the story served in Vietnam rather than WW 1...

I'm sorry, but it REALLY annoys me... What with having gone through the bother of living through it and all...
