I wish I could say I'm glad to be back (well, I'm glad to be back in the land of X-Files) but I had such a good time in NZ! It was a Backroads organized bicycle tour of the south island. Very nice. Unbelievably beautiful!

We cycled along the west coast, then headed inland. We helicoptered over the Franz Josef and Fox glaciers, and around Mt. Cook. Don't think I'd want to fly in a helicopter on a regular basis.

Lots of good shopping for jade, wood, and wool. The other people in the group (there were 24 of us plus 2 tour leaders) were all really nice. Even the two who took my armrests on the flight over. I had a middle seat between two fellow cyclists (whom I hadn't met until then) and they both claimed the armrests. I really hate that! And the seats were incredibly uncomfortable. I couldn't have gotten more than an hour of much interrupted sleep. Ugh.

And, yes, I did bungy jump. I was thinking I would until we got to the site. Looking at it from the side it didn't look too bad, but then I went on the bridge and looked down. Yikes! But I paid for the jump, t-shirt, and photos, then when my turn came (which I did as soon as possible) I, trying hard to not think too much about it or look down, did a swan dive. I'll never do it again, but the photos are GREAT!

Thanks for keeping that photo up for me! I set it as my wallpaper.
