I've got mixed feelings about this ep. I'd really rather see Scully deal with her feelings for Mulder than for some guy in her past. On the other hand, given that we had to sit through — what? — about eight eps in which Fowl Thing made an appearance, I guess it's only fair that we get to have one ep with Scully's "ex".
I'd like to hope that doing a "compare and contrast" type thing with the old boyfriend and Mulder would lead Scully to some sort of shippy revelation, but given the blatant anti-shipper bias on display this season (see my comments on the shipper board) I sincerely doubt it!
