Subject: World War II veterans portrayals on the screen

Here's something I've noticed in several TV shows and movies lately. If they have somebody playing a character who is supposed to be a World War II veteran (or otherwise have been an adult during WWII, such as a woman who was married to a soldier who served overseas at that time), the actor generally looks WAY too young to have been in World War II.

The war ended 66 years ago. Anybody old enough to have played an active part in it is now at least in their early 80s, if not older. My parents and in-laws, who are well into their 70s, were children during World War II.

Yet I keep seeing these men who look like they're in their late 60s/early 70s playing World War II veterans!
