Subject: Is it just the shows I'm watching or. . .

have we reverted to the days of "Starsky and Hutch" and "Hawaii 5-0" when men were the main characters in most mystery/detective type shows??

I'm only watching two new shows this season, but both seem awfully male-dominated. One is "Person of Interest" in which the two primary characters are the men, Reese and Finch. Granted, there's the woman cop, but she's a supporting character at best.

Same sort of thing, if not more so, in "Grimm". Technically speaking, Nick (the main character) has a girlfriend (or maybe she's even his fiancee) but she seems to be in about one scene per ep. Nick's main interaction is with either his male police officer partner or the werewolf guy.

Even on "NCIS:Los Angeles" which does have several fairly important female characters (Kinsey, Hetty and Nell) the main focus of the show seems to be on Callen and Sam Hanna, the two main male agents.

I miss the days of "The X-Files" and "Remington Steele" and even "JAG" where one of the two main characters were female.
