The only thing is that in the last few episodes, there is a reason for Mark Harmon's character to fixate on finding a certain bad guy which. If you missed that critical episode which started this story line/subplot, the last episode will not make any sense.

I do like the other stand alone episode format. It's also interesting to have another subplot (or whatever it is) that moves from one episode to another and is answered in the season finale.
